Etymology of specific epithet |
A Sicyopterus with three clefts (one anteriorly and two midlaterally) on upper lip, with smooth lip and with a second dorsal fin with 1 spine and 11 segmented rays. A distinctive black spot at the posterior base of the first dorsal fin, including rays 4 to 6, both in males and females. Lateral scales usually 50-57, predorsal scales 16-25 and transverse forward scales 15-19 (Ref. 90225).
